7.8 Earthquake Strikes Nepal
On Saturday, April 25, 2015, Nepal suffered a magnitude 7.8 earthquake, the worst since 1934. The epicenter of the earthquake was 30 miles from the capital city of Kathmandu. Over the next days, Nepal has had 35 aftershocks, with one being as big as magnitude 6.6. Kathmandu has suffered massive damage to homes, heritage sites and roads, as well as many casualties. On mount Everest, an avalanche was set off due to the quake, killing 17 people and stranding hundreds.
RescueNet En Route
RescueNet went on "Alert" immediately after receiving word of the massive earthquake. A team of 16 is now en route to Kathmandu to assist in the relief efforts. Please pray for our team as they deploy to help the Nepalese people in this great time of need.
